OUR BELIEFS

At Restoration Heights, not everyone believes the exact same things, and that’s part of what makes us who we are.

Our community includes lifelong Christians, new believers, spiritual wanderers, and people rebuilding faith from the ground up. We value diversity of thought, honest questions, mystery and a humble posture toward theology and one another.

What unites us isn’t perfect agreement.

What unites us is Jesus.

These are the shared convictions shaping who we are becoming:

Jesus at the Center

We believe Jesus is the truest picture of God and the clearest picture of who we are becoming. His life, death, and resurrection show us what love looks like, and we believe He is still leading, healing, and speaking today. Everything we do aims to follow His radical, countercultural way.

A Beautiful, Complicated Bible

We believe Scripture is a sacred, ancient library that invites us into God’s story. It can be complex and mysterious, yet deeply alive and transformative. Through the Spirit, Scripture guides us, grounds us, and shapes us toward love, justice, and belonging.

Belovedness Is Our Starting Point

We believe every person is created in the image of God and deeply, unchangeably loved. Your truest identity is “beloved,” not “broken.” We reject any theology that diminishes human dignity or uses shame as a motivator. Belovedness is where we begin, and where we return.

A Fully-Inclusive Community

We believe the church should look like the heart of Jesus: open, safe, and welcoming to all. At RHC, you are fully included regardless of race, orientation, gender, background, or story. Belonging is not something you earn; it’s something you already carry.

Justice, Mercy, and the Margins

We believe the way of Jesus always bends toward justice, compassion, and care for the marginalized. Faith isn’t only believed, it is lived. We seek to be a church that serves, advocates, and embodies mercy in our neighborhood and world.

The Hope of Resurrection

We believe in the rescuing work of Jesus; that He died, was buried, and rose again, defeating death and renewing hope for the whole world. Because Jesus lives, we trust that He is making all things new. We hold hope in a future where God restores creation, rights every wrong, and wipes away every tear.

Living in the In-Between

We believe God’s kingdom is both now and not yet, breaking into the world through Jesus, and still waiting for its full renewal. We experience real healing, justice, and transformation here and now, while also longing for the day when everything is made whole.

Because of this, we hold our faith with humility. We don’t pretend to have every answer. We trust that God meets us in the mystery, in the questions, and in the in-between. This is where faith grows, where grace takes root, and where we learn to walk with Jesus one step at a time.

A Sanctuary and a Sending

We believe the church is both a place to rest and a place to be strengthened; a front porch and a table. We gather for worship, healing, and community, and then we go into the world to love our neighbors, seek justice, and carry hope.

A Knowable & Active God

We believe God is active and present through the Holy Spirit; guiding, comforting, empowering, and inviting us into transformation. We don’t chase spectacle, but we welcome the quiet, steady work of God in our lives and our community.

The Reality of Sin

We believe sin is real and matters, not because it breaks cosmic rules, but because it fractures relationships; with God, with one another, with creation, and even within ourselves. Sin shows up both individually and communally, in the ways we harm, exclude, ignore injustice, or fail to honor the humanity of our neighbors.

We also believe Jesus has broken the power of sin, not through fear or force, but through love. His life, death, and resurrection open the way for restoration, healing, and new creation.
